What Nikolai failed to tell us was that a bearing had gone on the truck. Therefore we are waiting in Ust Nera for the truck to be fixed in Khandyga. Not impressed. We have done 11,000km so far without support and the first day we have support it breaks down.

On a plus note; it is wonderful to be driving about, the landrover is performing fantastically and below are some more pictures. Today we have driven down to Artyk for something to do as there are no places to eat/visit in Ust Nera (neither in Artyk come to that).

Anybody's guess as to what this is - Nicky's guess is frozen river meeting itself?

We spoke to Nikolai this morning and he is on his way in the truck and should arrive this afternoon. We have sent two lots of pictures through - the first ones are on Omjakon.htm as that is what they are of. The second batch haven't been transferred completely and only two are legible - see below

4th March 2008

Yesterday Simon and I travelled separately from the Kamas and we camped on the roadside near Oymyakon. We had thought that we would reach Ust Nera (pictures from wideview site ) but arrived here today. As there are no hotels we care in the Land Rover again. Now that hotels, cafe's and restaurants are more scarce we are relying more on the self heating meals and the First Choice Expedition Foods . Nikolai, Sergei and the truck do not appear to be here but it is late and we will find them tomorrow. From here we will travel together to Syriyanka.

Tomorrow morning I will try and send some pictures through. It has been very mountainous and even the satellite phone could not get a connection.
